12 Signs You Need A Mental Break

    By No Comments2 Mins Read

Many of us feel mentally drained during the pandemic, but you can’t even blame a global disease for all our stress. Whether it’s work, family, or relationship drama, there are many reasons why our stress or anxiety levels rise. When there is too much on our plate, certain things begin to change in our routine. It can be exhausting and a great sign that you need to step back and practice some self-care, letting your mind recover.

    1. You can’t sleep

If you can’t sleep and there is a random bout of insomnia, it could be a big red flag. When we are overwhelmed or stressed, it is common to lose sleep. This is especially true if your sleepless behavior is causing problems in your ability to function.

    2. Feelings of restlessness

In addition to not being able to sleep, exhausted people are restless and find it difficult to sit still or calm their brain. This commonly happens when you don’t take enough breaks at work or jump from project to project at high speed all the time. It’s important to slow down and get into a rhythm; Consider active meditation, such as coloring or yoga.

    3. Unusual loss or increase in appetite.

If you feel much hungrier than usual and are constantly snacking or looking to binge on junk food all the time, it may be a sign that you need to take a break. On the other end of the spectrum, if you eat less than usual, skip meals, or never have an appetite, that’s a common side effect of stress.

    4. Lack of motivation

Do you feel less motivated than usual? You may no longer enjoy work or activities that once gave you pleasure. This is a sign of exhaustion. If you simply can’t muster the energy or motivation, it means your high stress levels can turn once-pleasurable activities into monotonous chores.

    5. Energy levels drop

Do you feel mentally and physically exhausted but not sure why? If you’re getting enough sleep but still wake up and feel tired or sluggish, this is a sign that you’re exhausted. Resting mentally to recover is essential to regain that energy.
